We do recommend that members maintain a separate health insurance policy (or a health-sharing plan) to cover hospitalizations, surgeries, specialist visits, and other costs outside the scope of primary care. Many of our members pair Vanguard with a high-deductible plan or catastrophic coverage — and find they save money overall because they’re using primary care more proactively.
